Chris Hackett Praises Local March For Life Participants
DALLAS, PA – Republican Congressional candidate Chris Hackett praised the hundreds of Northeast and North Central Pennsylvania residents who journeyed to Washington DC today to join over 200,000 of their fellow citizens in the annual March for Life.
"Today marks the 35th anniversary of the wrongly-decided case of Roe v. Wade, which indiscriminately struck down the abortion laws of all 50 states and allowed the Federal government to make policy for all. Every January 22 since then, hundreds of thousands of our fellow citizens have peacefully gathered in Washington DC to march from the White House to the Supreme Court to petition for redress of this misguided decision," said Hackett.
"Roe v. Wade is a tragedy, and an important example of what happens when judges invent rights instead of applying the Constitution. I support the appointment of judges like Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence Thomas who will let the Constitution guide their decisions instead of going outside of the document to make policy that fits a narrow ideology," Hackett continued.
"Our nation was founded under the proposition that all citizens would have the right to life, liberty, and property. Over 45 million babies were not accorded even the most minimal of these rights in the just the last 35 years because of activist judges. While I am pleased to see recent data shows the annual number of abortions is at its lowest level in over 30 years, we have a long way to go to create a culture of life." Hackett continued.
"On this most solemn of anniversaries, I want to reiterate my commitment to protect the lives of the unborn, the infirm, and the elderly to the citizens of Northeast and North Central Pennsylvania and thank my fellow citizens for donating their time and energy on this day of bitterly cold and inclement weather to fight for life," Hackett concluded.
