This Week: Carney and Hackett Have Dueling Fundraisers
New Hackett Radio Ad Highlights Carney's Washington Hypocrisy.
Charlie Rangel to host $5,000 per person DC fundraiser to pay back Carney,
while NEPA citizens join Hackett at local Grotto's Pizza.
Dallas, PA – Conservative Republican Chris Hackett, candidate for Congress in the 10th Congressional District, launched a new radio ad today called "Rangel." The ad highlights how Chris Carney has lost touch with Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania values by voting for liberal New York Congressman Charlie Rangel's $2 million dollar pork earmark named after himself and then having Rangel host a $5,000 per person fundraiser for him in Washington this week.
Congressman Rangel will host the fundraiser on Thursday, March 13th at 12:15pm at the Wasserman Room of the Democratic Club National Headquarters.
In part, the Hackett ad says, "So Chris Carney voted to send Pennsylvania tax dollars to New York to pay for a pork project named after Charlie Rangel, and then Rangel turns around and hosts a five thousand dollar a person fundraiser for Carney." Full ad script is attached.
While Carney is being hosted by Washington special interests on Thursday, that night Chris Hackett is holding a campaign event at Grotto's Pizza in Harveys Lake. Unlike Carney's $5,000 special interest event in Washington, actual citizens of Pennsylvania's 10th District are invited to Hackett's event at Grotto's, and it won't cost them $5,000 either.
"While many Republicans and even some Democrats have seen how corrupt the earmarking process has become and are opting out, Chris Carney has become one of the biggest defenders of the status quo. We need a congressman who will stand up for Pennsylvania taxpayers, not play the usual Washington deal making games," said Hackett. "I will fight to end the corrupt earmarking system and bring true reform to Washington."
Chris Carney has received $16,000 from Rep. Charlie Rangel and on July 19th Carney voted against an amendment that would have removed the egregious $2 million dollar Rangel earmark.
The Hackett campaign will host a grassroots event at Grotto's Pizza at 7PM on Thursday, March 13th. Unlike Carney's $5,000 per person event, the event is free and open to the public.
