Chris Hackett To Run For Congress To Revitalize Local Economy And Keep Pennsylvania's Families Secure

Towanda - Entrepreneur and community volunteer Chris Hackett, a Republican who owns OneSource Staffing Solutions, a full service flexible staffing organization with offices across Northeast and Central Pennsylvania, will be on the steps of the historic Bradford County Courthouse on Tuesday September 18th at 10:00 AM to announce that he is running in the Republican primary to challenge Democratic Congressman Chris Carney in Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District.

"As a business owner who has created jobs for families in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania, as well as a husband and father, I know first-hand the challenges we face in creating and growing an energetic local economy so our children do not have to move away to build a better life," Hackett is expected to say.

"As Representative for the 10th District, I will fight to reduce the tax burden on our working families and take a stand against the abusive earmarks that waste our money in a cynical attempt to buy our votes. I will work hard to secure our borders. I will never vote to divert our tax dollars to pay for health insurance for illegal immigrants as our current Congressman has done. I will forcefully oppose the baseless attacks on our military leaders' integrity like we witnessed in Washington D.C. last week on General Petraeus. Our soldiers in the field continue to wage and win the global fight against terrorism and they deserve our support. Congress is talking too much about how to withdraw from the fight and not enough about how to win. We cannot afford to lose."

"As our Congressman, I will fight to protect our individual rights; including the right to life, and our right to bear arms as enshrined in the Second Amendment."

Hackett says he will expose a litany of promises made and broken by Carney and conclude with: "On issue after issue, Chris Carney has broken promise after promise and shown himself to be more like Washington D.C. than he is like us. It's time he was removed and replaced by someone with conservative values you can trust. With your support, I would like to be that person. I want to rebuild the trust between our families and our elected officials, and put Congress on a new path that will lead to strong economic growth, the strongest security, and government reform. I care deeply about our families and our future, and I will bring much-needed energy and a strong commitment to our shared values to the job. And that is why I am asking for your support to be your next Congressman."

The Vice-Chairman of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, Hackett says he is often involved in recruiting new businesses to Pennsylvania. He cites his recent work with Penn's Northeast in bringing internet retailer Boden into Northeastern PA; "When it comes to creating jobs and growing the economy, I have been a hands-on participant in making it happen."

Hackett has been married 20 years. He and his wife, Ramah, live in Shavertown with their four girls Alexandra, Madeleine, Gabrielle and Ruby.

Hackett has been involved in his community in a variety of ways, serving as co-chair of the United Way Tocqueville Campaign with his wife Ramah, obtaining more new members in the society than anyone in its history. He has served on the boards of Wyoming Seminary, Northeast PA Philharmonic and College Misericordia. He is a member and past treasurer of Shavertown United Methodist Church.
