Hackett Calls On Carney To Reject Rangel's 'Mother Of All Tax Hikes'

Largest-ever tax increase would be added to $100 billion in new taxes already
supported by Carney this year

Dallas - Today conservative Republican candidate for Congress Chris Hackett called on Congressman Carney (PA-10) to oppose his liberal Democrat friend Charlie Rangel, who is introducing the "Mother of All Tax Hikes."

House Democratic leaders - led by Ways & Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-NY) - unveiled their long-promised Mother of All Tax Hikes yesterday. Early analysis of the bill shows it raises taxes by more than $1 trillion over the next ten years. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) promised prompt action on the legislation, noting, "As soon as the Chairman's legislation is ready, I plan to swiftly bring it before the House for consideration."

Chris Hackett said, "During the first 10 months Democrats have controlled Congress, they have passed over $100 BILLION in new taxes. American taxpayers can't afford any more of this. People all over the district are telling me we need tax cuts, not tax increases. I hope Congressman Carney has finally heard the message from the hard working people of the 10th - no new taxes."

Charlie Rangel made a $4,000 dollar contribution to Carney's campaign less than a month ago. So the question for Rep. Carney is: "Are you going to side with tax-hiking liberal Charlie Rangel once again, or are you going to side with Pennsylvania taxpayers?"

Chris Hackett has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). The Pledge commits signers to "oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses ... and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates."
