Another Chance For Carney To Choose Between Pennsylvania Values And National Liberals

This week's abortion hearing spotlights Carney's position

Dallas - Businessman and Republican candidate for Congress Chris Hackett today called on Congressman Chris Carney to make clear his position in the Congressional debate over the Mexico City Policy in Congress. A hearing has been scheduled for today in the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Democratic majority is expected to recommend weakening the policy that keeps tax dollars from funding foreign abortions.

Hackett, a pro-life Republican who is challenging Carney in Pennsylvania s 10th Congressional District said, "I support the current law that prohibits using taxpayers' money to promote abortions overseas. Instead of giving money to overseas abortion providers, we should focus on making it easier for orphaned and abandoned children to get adopted by loving American parents."

In his first year in office, Congressman Carney has already sided with liberal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on a variety of key issues, including raising taxes, maintaining wasteful pork spending earmarks, and providing public benefits to illegal aliens.

Hackett continued, "This is yet another key test of whether Chris Carney will side with the views of citizens in northeastern Pennsylvania, or whether he will side with Nancy Pelosi liberals. I challenge him to stand up for innocent life and the American taxpayer - no money for overseas abortions, period."
