Hackett Says Carney Just Too Taxing For the 10th

Carney vote for another $72 billion tax hike almost doubles previous
$100 billion in tax hikes passed this year

Dallas -- Democrat Rep. Chris Carney (PA-10) voted Friday for a $72 billion tax hike that would take an average of almost $2,000 out of the pockets of every family in PA 10 within 5 years.

Chris Hackett, a conservative Republican looking to replace Carney next year said, 'Just two weeks ago I called on Congressman Carney to reject the liberal tax-raising agenda of Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel. Unfortunately, he failed to listen to the voters of the 10th and voted to raise taxes again. Although Carney and Rangel have attempted to hide this tax increase by selling it as a fix to the troublesome AMT issue, it is simply another tax increase.'

A recent study by the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation reveals that this tax hike will raise taxes on 90 percent of American taxpayers.

The Democrats' misnamed 'Temporary Tax Relief Act of 2007' by the numbers:

Hackett concluded, 'When will the Democrats learn? Raising tax rates reduces revenue and slows the economy and we can't afford either of these consequences at this time.'

Carney could have voted with the 8 Democrats who broke with party lines to reject this attack on the taxpayers and the economy, but instead again failed to stand up for the voters of the 10th and reject tax increases.
