Dallas, PA – Congressman Chris Carney’s latest television ad is filled with so many misleading statements that one would think a different person was running for reelection.

Carney’s ad claims he voted against his own party, yet the record shows he has voted with liberal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) a whopping 88.4% of the time. (WashingtonPost.com, 7/25/2008)

Carney’s ad talks about “restoring honor and integrity” but fails to mention that he has taken thousands of dollars from liberal Congressman Charles Rangel (D-New York City) who is under investigation for illegally using taxpayer dollars. This after Carney voted to spend $195 million on an outrageous earmark for a monument to Rangel in Harlem. [Roll Call 678]

Carney’s ad refers to “rock solid Pennsylvania values,” but his record is filled with instances that opposed those values, such as his votes to raise taxes [Roll Call 212], his refused to endorse domestic oil exploration [Roll Call 522 (2008),524 (2008), 526 (2008)], and his support for taxpayer funding of abortions [Roll Call 534 (2007), 684 (2007)].

Campaign Spokesperson Mark Harris stated, “It’s nice that Chris Carney voted against taking a vacation, but the people of our district are more concerned about gas prices and controlling wasteful Washington spending, and Carney has made those problems worse.”
