Tax Hike Carney Tries to Trick Taxpayers

Dallas, PA – Today, Chris Carney tried to cover up his record of voting for the largest tax increase in history by introducing a bill to lower the corporate tax rate. Conveniently, the bill was introduced three months before an election after Carney had amassed a steady pro-tax hike record.

  • On his first day in office Carney voted to make it easier to increase taxes (Roll Call 4)
  • Chris Carney voted for the largest tax increase in history (Roll Call 212) at $2,698 per 10th Congressional district family (Heritage Foundation)
  • Chris Carney voted for the second largest tax increase in history (Roll Call 377)
  • Chris Carney voted to increase business taxes $7.5 billion dollars (Roll Call 746)
  • Chris Carney voted for a $2 billion tax increase on home sales (Roll Call 947)
  • Chris Carney voted to keep the death tax (Roll Call 959)
  • Chris Carney voted to keep the marriage penalty (Roll Call 83)

Chris Hackett released a pro-corporate tax cut position on June 3rd in his statement of principles.

“This is another prime example of Chris Carney’s attempt at an extreme makeover.  He has joined Nancy Pelosi and the liberals in Congress voting to raise taxes repeatedly since he took office, and now, three months before the election, he offers a tax cut proposal.  Our district deserves a Congressman who will support lower taxes all year around, not just at election time,” said congressional candidate Chris Hackett.
