Carney Caught Lying to Voters About Record
In an effort to hide his liberal voting record, Carney lies at local town hall
Dallas, PA – At a town hall today in Williamsport, Congressman Chris Carney was asked whether he supported taxpayer funding for abortion either at home or abroad. Carney, knowing his record wouldn’t meet with approval from the crowd responded simply “No.”
Question: I’m a former educator here and a senior citizen in Williamsport. I’m a strong advocate for children and youth. I really appreciate; these two kids have my son as their principal at Loyalsock High. I appreciate their speaking out today. I’d like to know Congressman, if you support taxpayer funded abortion domestically or abroad?
Carney: No
Unfortunately, his Washington record doesn’t match his 10th District rhetoric. On June 21, 2007 Chris Carney voted for a repeal of the Mexico City policy. The Mexico City policy prevented taxpayer dollars from going to organizations that provide abortions overseas. (Roll Call 534, 6/21/2007) Then Chris Carney voted against a bi-partisan amendment that banned public funding of Planned Parenthood, America’s largest provider of abortions. (Roll Call 684, 7/19/2007) Carney received a 100% rating from the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) in 2007.
“Chris Carney’s record is clearly in favor of taxpayer funded abortion. He should have the decency to defend his position instead of lying to citizens. Carney refuses to participate in debates, spends tax dollars sending out thinly veiled campaign mailings, and now won’t even tell the truth at his town hall meetings. Our district deserves better. We deserve a congressman who will be straight with us. Chris Carney should apologize to everyone who attended his town hall meeting,” said Hackett campaign spokesman Mark Harris.
Chris Hackett is pro-life, opposes taxpayer-funding of abortions, and is endorsed by the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC).
