While Carney Continues to Refuse Debates Liberal Allies Launch Negative Attacks
Dallas, PA - Attempting to cover up Chris Carney’s liberal voting record, Washington Democrats launched an outrageous negative personal attack radio ad against congressional candidate Chris Hackett.
While missing the mark on Hackett, the ad fails to mention Chris Carney’s liberal and hypocritical record. The Washington Democrats accuse Hackett of owning oil stock, but Chris Carney’s retirement fund’s largest holding is ExxonMobil. The Washington Democrats accuse Hackett of taking money from “big oil,” while Chris Carney received PAC donations from Sunoco’s political action committee and several big energy PACs.
The truth is Chris Hackett has a consistent “All of the Above” energy strategy that involves increased energy exploration offshore and onshore; increased refinery capacity; new alternative fuels; and common sense conservation.
The Carney campaign is settling into the familiar pattern of Washington politicians:
Step 1: Refuse to debate your opponent in an open and honest way, even though numerous local news and civic organizations have offered to host debates.
Step 2: Use taxpayer funds to send out thinly veiled political mailings.
Step 3: Air TV commercials that distort your own record, adopting positions leading up to the election that you consistently opposed before the election season.
Step 4: Have your special interest allies and Washington political bosses run negative personal attack ads against your opponent.
“Chris Carney’s liberal record has put him out of touch with Pennsylvania families. While he votes against even debating offshore drilling, he has his allies doing the dirty work of covering up his record for the voters of the Tenth District. The price of gasoline and home heating oil has skyrocketed since Chris Carney took office and he is doing nothing to solve the crisis,” said Hackett campaign spokesman Mark Harris.
“Chris Carney opposes drilling, increased refinery capacity, and other common sense solutions. He is beholden to those in Congress who want high gas prices for their own political agenda. I will not let the liberal special interests hurt Pennsylvania families,” said congressional candidate Chris Hackett.
