Dallas, PA - Since Congress adjourned earlier this month and Congressman Chris Carney has left Washington and come to Pennsylvania, he might have noticed that gas prices are seriously hurting families and businesses in our area.  Apparently, other liberal politicians have found this as well.

Recently, Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama reversed his opposition to off-shore oil drilling [Citation].  Yesterday, the Denver Post reported that leading liberal environmentalist Congressman Mark Udall was also reversing his opposition to off and onshore drilling. “Both were sharp turnarounds for a man who has made the expansion of renewable energy a cornerstone of his career and who has consistently dinged the aggressive drilling policies of the Bush administration during this campaign.” (Denver Post, 8/14/2008)

The question Pennsylvania families deserve answered is: Why won’t Chris Carney drop his alliance with liberal special interest groups and join so many others in reversing his stand against expanding American oil production to reduce gas prices and decrease dependency on foreign oil?

Carney remains steadfast in his opposition to off-shore oil drilling.  A Washington liberal special interest group even bought radio ads throughout the district to thank him for his continued opposition to increasing American energy.  And Carney has received $2,000 in donations from groups opposed to common sense energy policy. “Chris Carney has now put himself further to the left on energy then Barack Obama and the most liberal Members of Congress like Mark Udall.  Pennsylvanians who are struggling with the price of gas and home heating oil deserve better.  I would challenge Chris Carney to drop his opposition to off-shore oil drilling.  Barack Obama and other Washington liberals have flip-flopped, Carney could easily do it too,” said congressional candidate Chris Hackett.
