Latest Carney TV Ad Distorts Carney’s Liberal Record, Fabritcates Record on Oil Company Donations
Dallas, PA - Today Chris Carney launched another false television advertisement. Carney’s campaign has become used to stretching the truth while ducking debates, but his latest TV ad reaches a new low. It seems like there’s two Chris Carneys: one that runs for Congress attempting to look like a conservative and another who votes in Washington as a liberal.
Campaign Carney: “Filling up your tank recently has been pretty shocking”
Washington Carney: In the 20 months he’s been in office, he’s sent out two taxpayer funded glossy mailers saying he’s going to solve gas prices. However, gas prices have risen 70% since he took office. The Pelosi liberal Congress has passed zero legislation that would help bring down the cost of oil
Campaign Carney: “My energy plan puts families first not oil companies”
Washington Carney: Chris Carney has stood with the Democratic Congress against the American Energy Act which would help increase supply. He also opposed cutting the gas tax, which would have an immediate impact for families across the 10th District (Roll Call 212).
Campaign Carney: “Invests in renewable energy”
Washington Carney: Special interests in Washington are standing against real action on renewable energy. Chris Carney has twice refused to sign onto discharge petitions that would help with both Coal-to-Liquid (Discharge Petition 12) and Nuclear energy (Discharge Petition 8).
Campaign Carney: “Crack down on speculators that drive up prices”
Washington Carney: While Chris Carney talks a good game, the bill he signed onto as a co-sponsor, the PUMP Act, continues to languish in a subcommittee. (HR 594, thomas.loc.gov)
Campaign Carney: “Force oil companies to drill now on 68 million acres”
Washington Carney: While this idea is fine, it doesn’t go very far. The Energy Information Administration, the statistical arm of the Energy Department, says drilling on the 68 million acres would contribute “little to the domestic oil supply” (CNSNews)
Campaign Carney: “The oil we drill in America should stay in America”
Washington Carney: In the 20 months Chris Carney has been in office no legislation has been passed on this issue by the Democratic Congress.
Campaign Carney: “I’ve never taken a dime from big oil companies”
Washington Carney: Chris Carney’s campaign committee accepted a contribution of $2,000 from SunPAC on February 22nd, 2007. (FEC, 2/22/2007) The contribution was returned only after the story broke out in the press.
“Chris Carney has consistently voted against Pennsylvania families and supported radical liberal special interests on oil exploration, and that’s why those interests are now backing his campaign. Carney has voted against drilling in Alaska, against drilling offshore, he has even voted to block debate on any of these issues. All the false ads in the world can’t hide his liberal record in Congress,” said campaign spokesman Mark Harris.
