Hackett will not speak at GOP convention

Republican congressional candidate Chris Hackett’s proposed two-minute speech at the Republican National Convention has been officially cancelled, his campaign said Tuesday.

Hackett was scheduled to speak Monday, but it was cancelled as the GOP rearranged events due to Hurricane Gustav. The speech was possibly going to be rescheduled, but that fell through, his campaign said.

Hackett, who faces first-term incumbent Chris Carney, D-Dimock Township, this fall in the 10th Congressional District, was set to return to Pennsylvania on Tuesday evening.
